Obituary

Makaylah Christine Lee, 21, of Andrews passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2020 in Andrews.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life at a later date with a memorial service held outdoors. A tree will be planted in her memory. Kaylah loved the outdoors and always wanted to be a tree when this life was finished, and so we will honor her with that. Cremation is under the personal care of McNett Funeral Home. Please visit www.mcnettfuneralhome.com for obituary information, and service details.

Makaylah Christine Lee was born on July 23, 1998 in Odessa, Texas to Kenneth Lee and Lisa Johnson. Kaylah was such a force. She left an impression on everyone she ever met. She was stubborn and hard-headed, she was argumentative and sometimes hard to get along with, but she loved hard and lived life. She had a hard time letting people in, but when she did, she didn’t hold back. Her laugh was so contagious. She had a smart mouth and was quick with her 'come backs'. Kaylah was obsessed with the sky...she grew a love for the sunsets as a small child. Her great grandma would take all the kids out in the back yard after dinner and they would sit and talk as they watched the sun go down. She couldn't help but run outside when a storm was rolling in and would sit and take pictures of it until it would start raining and she would be forced to retreat. Kaylah loved the stars and the moon and was so obsessed with all the beauty God had created, but the sunset was always her favorite. Driving home from work in the evening she would pull over because the sky was perfect with its red, pinks and yellows. She would take her pictures and head home. Some of you met her at work, and she cherished the 'Girls at Thirst T’s'. Every one of them were her favorite. She bonded with each of them and made sure to keep up with all of them when they no longer worked together. Kaylah spent a summer working the snack bar at the Andrews County Country Club and had plenty of Moms in the kitchen and a great group of friends to work side by side with. She spent some time working at Stripes with one of her mother’s very best friends, a lady who was Kaylah's Godmother and Aunt. She was very close with their family. Her last job was her dream job...in her words "I get paid to sit in an office with very little people interaction and get to watch Netflix all day." She had a strong bond with her bosses and worked with her family. She met so many important people right here in Andrews. We want you all to know that she truly loved each one of you with all her heart. I want you all to understand that she made the decision to leave us because of her own heart. I don’t for one second believe that it was from anything other than the fact that she just became tired. Her heart was tired, her soul was ready to be free from this life on earth. She is rejoicing and having her reunions with all those gone before her. She is happy beyond anything we can imagine there is no pain, no hurt, no regret...she is Home. Kaylah is preceded in death by her Great Grandpa William Kolterman and her Grandmother Judy Lee.

Kaylah is survived by her mother, Lisa Johnson and husband Jeremy, of Andrews, father, Ken Lee and wife LeAnn of, Odessa, 4 brothers, Nathan Lee and wife Ashley, Jeffery and wife Tammy, Dylan Baker and wife Kylee, of New York and Brandon Johnson, 5 sisters, Cheyenne Tyler and her dog child Cali, Jailey Johnson, Alesha Johnson, Caitlin Barker, and Amanda Rojero and husband Angel, Grandparents, James and Vicky Johnson, Grandma Sue Kolterman, Great Grandma Clara Kolterman, and Grandpa Gary Jensen. Many aunts and uncles, great aunts and uncles, cousins and other relatives and numerous nieces and nephews who will greatly miss their “Aunt LaLa.” Kaylah will be dearly missed by her big fat cat “Fishy Bear."

We all have pictures and we all have memories that we will cherish and that's how we want her remembered. Again, thank you all for your thoughts and prayers, but mostly, I want to say thank you for being a part of Kaylah's life. She loved every one of you ❤

Such a sweet girl with a loving heart. I will remember calling so many times and her coming to our house to pick up Fishy because Fishy would get out and show up at our house. My thoughts and prayers are with all the family and friends. Rest In Peace sweetheart. I’ll see you again someday.
