Obituary

Annie Fay Tyler Ward, 82, of Andrews passed away on Monday, January 27, 2020 in Andrews surrounded by her loving family.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life at 10:00 AM Friday, January 31, 2020 at McNett Funeral Home Chapel in Andrews with Pastor Jeff Chapman officiating. Interment will follow in the Andrews Old Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 PM on Thursday at the funeral home. Please visit www.mcnettfuneralhome.com for obituary information, visitation and service details, and family pictures or videos.

Annie Fay was born on May 12, 1937 in Lamesa, Texas to Melvin D. Tyler and Annie Ellis McKee Tyler. They moved to Andrews in 1945, where she was raised and attended school. She married Maxie Carl Ward, Sr. on December 21, 1953 in Lovington, New Mexico. They had lived in Andrews most of their lives and in Weatherford, Oklahoma from 1978 – 1985. She had worked as a physical therapist at the old hospital in downtown Andrews and worked for the Permian Basin Drug and Alcohol Counseling. She had owned and operated the T-Shirt Shack, where she loved to do unique t-shirts for everyone. Annie was a past member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Andrews Bowling League. She loved to fish, especially with family in Brownwood, but she didn’t like to eat them! She was very involved with the Andrews Ex’s Reunion every year. One of Annie’s favorite places to go was the Andrews Senior Citizen Center, where she could spend time with her friends. She loved to crochet afghans and bedspreads for her family and collected John Wayne memorabilia. Annie Fay was the type of person that everyone in town knew and loved. She really never met a stranger and could talk for hours to anyone. She will be remembered for always being there for her family through the good and bad times. She was a past member of McKinney Acres Baptist Church and a current member of Grace Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Maxie Carl Ward, Sr. on November 17, 2016, her parents, 3 siblings, Earl Tyler, Juanita Green, and Arley Ray Tyler, and 2 grandchildren, Dayna Gist and Rachel Ward.

Annie Fay is survived by her 4 children, Maxie Carl Ward, Jr. and wife, Elaine, of Andrews, Bill Ward and wife, Isabel, of Andrews, Tonya Kissel and husband, Frank, of Waynesville, Missouri, and Danita Templeton and husband, Brian, of Andrews, 4 siblings, Melvin D. Tyler and wife, Earlene, of Hartshorne, Oklahoma, Tommy Tyler and wife, Judy, of Andrews, Carl Don Tyler of Gardendale, and Harley Tyler and wife, Joy, of May, 15 grandchildren, and 30 great grandchildren.

Memorials may be sent to the Andrews Senior Citizen Center or Grace Baptist Church.
