Nell Cox, 88, of Andrews passed away on Monday, September 2, 2019 in Andrews.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life at 2:00 PM Saturday, September 7, 2019 at the Andrews Church of Christ, 201 NW 2nd Street, in Andrews with Minister Leslie L. Boone officiating. Interment will follow in the Andrews Old Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 PM on Friday at McNett Funeral Home in Andrews. Nell was born on September 17, 1930 in Snyder, Texas to Frank Floyd and Velma Prather Floyd. She was raised in Snyder and graduated from Snyder High School in 1946. She married Billy D. Cox on December 27, 1949 in San Antonio, Texas. Nell owned and operated a beauty shop from 1949 – 1951 and owned and operated with her husband, Estelle's Flowers and Gifts, for over 25 years. Nell and Billy were the recipients of the Andrews Pioneer Citizen Award. Nell had been involved or was a member of the Texas – New Mexico Florists Association, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center Advisory Council, Election Judge for Andrews, Andrews Ocotillo Garden Club, Andrews Friends of the Library, Andrews Bridge Club, Andrews Country Club, and the Andrews Chamber of Commerce. She loved being in Andrews and was very involved in her professional and community boards. She was very social, outgoing and friendly, and loved spending time with her family. She loved being involved in her grandchildren and great grandchildren’s lives. She was a faithful member of the Andrews Church of Christ.
Nell is survived by her two sons, Gary Cox (and Debbie Olson) of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and Brent (and Mary) Cox of Euless, Texas, two sisters, Peggy Cowan (and Bob) of Midland and Jerry Harrison (and Jerry Bob) of Lubbock, brother, Don Floyd (and Ruth) of Ackerly, grandchildren Sarah Cox, Megan (and John) Gideon, Lauren (and Jason) Uhrynowycz, Laura (and Brian) Shore and Caroline (and Zach) Townsend, as well as five great-grandchildren. She was preceded by her husband, Billy, on January 4, 2019, her parents, sister, Karen Osben, and brother Wilbur Floyd.
