James Aaron Johnson, 94, passed from this world into the arms of God on September 6, 2018 with his loving friends and family surrounding him in the comfort of his home in Longview, Texas.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life at 10:00 AM Friday, June 14, 2019 at a Graveside Memorial service in the Andrews Old Cemetery. Services are under the personal care of McNett Funeral Home in Andrews, Texas.
James was born on September 5, 1924 in Albany, Oklahoma to Ruthie Thomas and Blanche Johnson. The family moved to Durant, Oklahoma when James was 12 years old. James proudly served his country during WW II with the 101st Airborne Screaming Eagles, Company E-502. He was wounded at the Battle of the Bulge in January 1945. James was shipped back to the states where he spent some years healing. When he was able to work, he went to work for Bell Telephone. He drifted to West Texas to work in the oil field. In Andrews he met Lola Faye McAfee, they married on December 31, 1955. Together they had four children. In September 1957, James went to work for the U.S. Postal service and in January of 1966 transferred to Longview, Texas where he retired in 1982. James was preceded in death by his parents, and a baby daughter Wendy.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lola Johnson of Longview, Texas, two sons, Bill Johnson and wife Peggy of Longview, Texas, Mike Johnson of Lake Jackson, Texas, one daughter, Marie Knapp of Watauga, Texas, nine grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren.
