Obituary for Edmundo "Querido Maestro" Romo

Edmundo "Querido Maestro" Romo
Edmundo “Querido Maestro” Romo, 89, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and formerly of Andrews, passed away on Tuesday, March 26, 2019 in Oklahoma City.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life at 11:00 AM Saturday, March 30, 2019 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 201 NE Avenue K, in Andrews with Rev. Joseph Ogbonna officiating. Interment will follow in the Andrews North Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 PM – 9 PM on Friday and Rosary Services will be recited at 7:00 PM on Friday at McNett Funeral Home. Please celebrate his life by visiting www.mcnettfuneralhome.com.

Edmundo was born on November 20, 1929 in Aguascalientes, Mexico to Jose Romo and Guadalupe Saucedo Romo. He married Elena Rivera Romo on March 3, 1955 in Chihuahua, Mexico, and they migrated to America over 60 years ago. He loved Mexico and loved America, and he was so proud of Mexico and grateful for the American Dream. He was a newspaper reporter & actor in Aguascalientes. He was a double for major actors like Pedro Infante in Mexico. He had worked as an editor and writer at the newspaper in Lordsburg, New Mexico, where he had originally operated a linotype machine. He loved being a rancher, loved his animals, and the majority of his life had a pet dog. He worked at the Sonny Tom Ranch, when he first arrived in Andrews. His last profession prior to retiring was back to ranching in South Dakota. In between being a rancher, he was a true hard-working entrepreneur. He was a hardworking man that did whatever it took to provide for his family; from being a business owner, construction, Mexican imports, and carpentry. He loved his family very much, and his children and grandchildren were his pride. He was a devout Catholic that always prayed his Rosary before bedtime. He loved the Lord and rededicated his life to Jesus later in life about 7 years ago.

Edmundo is survived by Elena Rivera Romo of Oklahoma City, 8 children, Edmundo Romo, Jr. of El Paso, Miguel Romo of Andrews, Adolfo Romo of Andrews, Ray Romo and wife, Norma, of Haslet, Oscar Romo and wife, Olga, of Midland, Freddy Romo of Andrews, Laura Selby of Oklahoma City, and Zulema Prieto and husband, Marcelino, of Andrews, 1 sister, Martha Graciela Romo of Aguascalientes, Mexico, 1 brother, Jose Guadalupe Romo and wife, Coqui, of Aguascalientes, Mexico, 18 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren.
