Obituary for Mary "Granny" Anderson

Mary "Granny" Anderson
Mary “Granny” Anderson, 66, of Andrews passed away on Sunday, September 16, 2018 in Odessa.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life at 10:00 AM Thursday, September 20, 2018 at McNett Funeral Home Chapel in Andrews with Pastor Kevin Covington, officiating. Interment will follow in the Andrews North Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Wednesday at McNett Funeral Home. Please celebrate her life by visiting www.mcnettfuneralhome.com.

Mary was born on February 26, 1952 in Uvalde, Texas to Eusevio Zepeda Mireles, Sr. and Ruby Maldonano Mireles. She was raised in Uvalde and moved to Midland and then to Andrews with her family. While in Andrews, she had worked at The Steakhouse, Paragon, Gibson’s, and was co-owner of Buddy’s Drive In. At Buddy’s, she loved to work all the time, and she thought of all her customers as her family. She was very fond of her morning and afternoon coffee drinkers. Those men coffee drinkers included her in their group and would pick her up and take her to their man cave to feed and visit with her. She collected tea sets, loved listening to George Strait and Elvis Presley, and spending time with her family and grandchildren. She will be remembered as very loving, forgiving, and giving people 2nd chances. She has missed working with her friends, Floy and Minnie, at Buddy’s Drive In, which is The Original Steakfinger Headquarters. They have all been known to support the community and school of Andrews and provide steakfingers to many families during their own funerals and many out of town guest and school teams. She is preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters, Veronica Mireles and Angie Montano, and brother, Adolfo Mireles.

Mary is survived by her 2 daughters, Michelle Waters and Marquita Hunt of Andrews and their father, George Anderson of Andrews, brother in law, Samuel Anderson of Andrews, 2 sisters, Alice Franco of Midland and Dora Mireles of Andrews, 2 honorary sisters, Margie Garcia and Suzette Baird, of Andrews, 4 brothers, J.R. Mireles of Dallas, Frank Mireles of Dumas, Richard Mireles of Midland, and Joey Mireles of Andrews, grandson, Billy Joe Whittenburg of Andrews, Madison Waters of Andrews, honorary grandson, Robert Waters of Midland, and great granddaughter, Zaleigh Whittenburg.

Memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org.

In honor of Mary, Buddy’s Drive In, will be closed on Thursday until 5:00 PM.
