Obituary for Greg "Gollo" Hinojos, Sr.

Greg “Gollo” Hinojos, Sr., 73, of Andrews passed away on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 in Midland.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life at 2:00 PM Thursday, March 29, 2018 at McNett Funeral Home Chapel in Andrews. Rosary services will be recited at 7:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Cremation is under the personal care of McNett Funeral Home. Greg was born on August 21, 1944 in Marfa, Texas to Pedro Tarango Hinojos, Sr. and Gloria Martinez Hinojos. He was raised in Ruidosa, Texas and received his GED while in Monahans. He married Eva Ramirez on December 22, 1967 in Midland, and she preceded him in death on April 24, 1992. He had lived in Monahans for 17 years, Texico, New Mexico, Las Vegas, Nevada, and moved to Andrews in 2003. He married Maria Isabel Esparza on November 3, 1995 in Farwell. He had worked for Dresser Atlas, Inc. in Coyanosa, TX. He was self employed many years as a truck driver, backhoe operator, mechanic, and had dug many swimming pools in Andrews. He was adventurous and enjoyed drinking coffee, hunting, cooking outdoors, and loved going on the ATV’s with his family. He was known for his asado, chili verde con carne, and enjoyed cooking for many family gatherings, weddings, and quinceaneras. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Andrews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Ofelia Hinojos.

Greg is survived by his wife, Maria I. Hinojos of Andrews, 6 sons, Jose Hinojos, Jr. and wife, Laura, of Andrews, Randall Hinojos, Sr. and wife, Irene, of Odessa, Frederick Hinojos and wife, Cindy, of Greeley, Colorado, Christopher Hinojos and wife, Dawn, of Las Vegas, Nevada, Alberto Esparza and wife, Denise, of Andrews, and Ivan Esparza and wife, Catalina, of Andrews, 2 brothers, Pedro Hinojos, Jr. of Kermit and Raul Hinojos, Sr. and wife, Francisca, of Monahans, 2 sisters, Sara Lujan of Andrews and Mary Ellen Primera and husband, Frank, of Monahans, 21 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.
