Obituary for Claudie Adkins

Claudie Adkins, 91, of Andrews passed away on Friday, January 26, 2018 in Andrews.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life at 1:00 PM Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at the First Baptist Church, 201 NE 2nd Street, in Andrews with Pastor Brant O’Connor officiating. Interment will follow in Andrews North Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday from 1 – 8 PM and Monday from 9 AM – 9 PM at McNett Funeral Home. Claudie was born on December 11, 1926 in Berwyn, Oklahoma to Clemuel Claude Jones, Sr. and Lottie Mae Cullins Jones. She was raised in Oklahoma and graduated from Berwyn High School. She graduated from Central State College in Edmond, Oklahoma with a degree in English. She married Leonard Dale Adkins on September 30, 1950 in Ardmore, Oklahoma. They moved to Andrews in 1964 from Frankel City. She had worked as an assistant manager for 18½ years and retired from Sears. She was a past member of the Andrews Philresters, Trailer Town Travelers, Texas Woodcarvers Guild, West Texas Woodcarvers, and the Mustang Draw Woodcarvers. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband on February 16, 2016, her parents, son, Dale Lewis Adkins, 3 sisters, Maurine Tanner, Marguriette Merritt, and Rosa Mary Bray, and 2 brothers, Clifford and Charles Jones.

She is survived by her daughter, Paula Barr and husband, Don, of San Antonio, son, Carl Adkins and wife, Lela, of Odessa, 3 grandchildren, Bryan, Steven, and Patricia, 1 step great grandson, Noah, 3 sisters, Dorothy Atchley of Virginia, Maxine Bahm of Kaw City, Oklahoma, and Marcella Bray of Lone Grove, Oklahoma, and 2 brothers, Clem C. and David Jones, both of Lone Grove, Oklahoma.
