Chris was raised in Andrews and graduated from Andrews High School in 2005. He was involved in baseball, football, basketball, and track as a youth and in high school. He served as the Captain of his football and baseball teams his Senior year, and had played in the UIL All Star Game for football and baseball. The day after he graduated; he went to work for his Uncle Marty Slaton at Slaton Waterfalls and Ponds in Odessa. He worked for him for several years and loved every minute of it. This is where he learned to build waterfalls, outdoor kitchens, lazy rivers, and pools, and was still working on some of this. He met Erin Nicole Parrish and married her a year later on November 5, 2006 in Odessa at a waterfall garden he built himself. He had worked for Energen Resources since 2009 as a Fluid Technician in their Andrews and Seminole offices.

Chris had served on the Board of Directors and as President, umpired, and coached for the Andrews Baseball Association from 2007 – 2015, where he had stepped off to devote more time to his family. He had served as a Commissioner and on the Board of Directors and coached for the Cal Ripkin Baseball Association. He had served on the Board of Directors and coached for the Andrews Youth Football League. He had coached in the Andrews Outlaws Iron Man Football League. He had coached for the West Texas Horned Frogs and Andrews RIP travel baseball teams. He had refereed for the Andrews Middle and High School basketball games. He had coached, mentored, fathered many kids throughout all these sports and he was known as “Coach” to them. He had won as Flight Champion in the 2017 Andrews Father-Son Golf Tournament with his son, Rocky. He enjoyed being around youth sports, playing golf, fantasy football, and loved to shrimp boil. He liked the Nebraska Cornhuskers, Dallas Cowboys, and the St. Louis Cardinals. He had been the “Voice of the AHS Baseball” radio broadcast on KACT Radio for the last 3 years. Chris had a contagious laugh and a great smile that would light up the room. He always tried to carry the world on his shoulders for everyone else. He was known to always consider others before himself. Chris had attended Northcrest Baptist Church in Andrews. Chris was preceded in death by his child, Cannan Stephens, his father, Luther Ray Stephens, grandparents, Alfred and Othela Stephens and Joe and Lola Wilson.
