Lt. Col Neil B. Hollis, Retired
Lt Col Neil B. Hollis, retired, 79, of Fischer, Texas passed away on Friday, March 23, 2018 in Austin, Texas.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life at 2:00 PM Monday, April 2, 2018 at McNett Funeral Home Chapel in Andrews with Flora Maxine Kramer officiating. Interment will follow in the Andrews West Cemetery under the personal care of McNett Funeral Home. Please celebrate the life of Neil by visiting

Neil was born in Hollis, Oklahoma, on July 19, 1938, to William W. and Margaret E. Barrett Hollis. Neil was raised in Hollis, OK where he graduated from high school. He attended and graduated from Oklahoma State University, then joined the army to serve during Viet Nam for 2 tours of duty. He retired from the army with 23 years of service with the rank of LTC. After retirement he worked for an engineering company for 6 years in South America where he developed a computer program to run a hydraulic dam in Venezuela. At this point, Neil was called to the ministry, was ordained through Evangelistic Messengers Association, and served as chaplain for Good Sam and other camping groups. He moved to Midland, TX where he held a variety of jobs including chaplain for several nursing homes. He and his first wife, Rosemary, were married for 48 years. After her passing, he met and married Patti Sue Dodds. They were married for 11 ½ amazing years given the opportunity to see America, share life together, and spend time wonderful friends. Neil was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Joe, and Bill Hollis, and one sister Charlene Jackson.

Neil is survived by his wife Patti Dodds Hollis of Fischer, Texas, sister Hellen Cherry of Andrews, Texas, and several nieces and nephews.
