Obituary for Carlene Zant
Carlene Zant, 83, of Andrews passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 in Andrews.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life at 10:00 AM (CST) Saturday, September 2, 2017 at Grace Baptist Church, 507 NE 4th Street, in Andrews with Pastor Jeff Chapman officiating. The family will be having a meal at 12:00 PM Saturday at The City of Refuge Church, 1876 North U.S. Highway 385, in Andrews.
Visitation will be on Friday from 9:00 AM – 9:00 PM at McNett Funeral Home, and the family will receive friends from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM Friday.
Graveside services will be at 1:00 PM (MST) Sunday, September 3, 2017 at the Floyd Cemetery in Floyd, New Mexico. The family will be having a meal at 11:00 AM (MST) Sunday at the Floyd Senior Citizen Center. Please celebrate her life by visiting www.mcnettfuneralhome.com.
Carlene was born on June 9, 1934 in Baileyboro, Texas to Carl Robert Essary and Clara Opal McCarty Essary and was raised in Floyd She moved to Andrews in 1957 from Portales, NM. She married Joseph Pascal Zant on April 6, 1982 in Lovington, New Mexico. She had worked for a nursing home in Portales and as a contract pumper; working along the side of her husband in Andrews. They enjoyed traveling, camping, dancing, and spending time in the mountains. She loved spending time at the Andrews Senior Citizen Center, was a member of the Rebekah Lodge in Andrews, enjoyed playing dominoes with her friends on Friday, and was a faithful member of Grace Baptist Church. She will be remembered for crocheting tablecloths for her family to keep. She was preceded in death by her husband on December 20, 2009, her parents, sister, Shirley Kryder, and son, James “J.C.” Zant.
Carlene is survived by her 6 children, Carla McCurry of Midland, Richard Feland of El Paso, Deloris Cook and husband, Mike, of Andrews, Ronnie Feland and wife, Lisa, of Andrews, Joe Zant and wife, Judy, of Odessa, and Alice Drake of Andrews; 4 brothers, Bob Essary and wife, Janice, of Capitan, NM, Don Essary and wife, Linda, of Floyd, NM, Hershel Essary and wife, Lyda, of Floyd, NM, and Joe Essary and wife, Betty, of Portales, NM; 19 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; and many great great grandchildren.
