Charles Jones Sr.
Charles David Jones, Sr., 86, of Odessa passed away on Friday, April 14, 2017 in Phoenix, Arizona.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life at 2:00 PM Thursday, April 20, 2017 at Eisenhower Church of Christ, 807 East 21st Street in Odessa. Officiating will be Mike Jones and Tyler Jones. Interment will follow in the Andrews West Cemetery in Andrews. The family will receive friends at the church Thursday from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM. Please celebrate the life of Charles by Visiting www.mcnettfuneralhome.com.

Charles was born on March 9, 1931 in Boonville, Missouri to Alton and Essie Beale Jones. He grew up in Memphis, Tennessee. Charles married Helen Louise Richardson on July 8, 1961 in Memphis. He served in the Army during the Korean war. It was in Korea in a foxhole that he made a vow to God to give his life to the Lord and to spend the rest of his days preaching the good news of Jesus. Is was apparent that this vow was more than a promise because it became his life mission. Charles attended Freed-Hardeman University in Henderson, Tennessee where he studied the Bible. The family could not talk about Charles without talking about the Lord, they were inseparable. It amazed his family that he was able to spend many hours ministering to people without sacrificing time with his kids. He loved his wife more than his own life and even in the end would call out her name. Charles served in the ministry in Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Mississippi, Pakistan, Canada and Odessa, Texas. He and his wife both made a difference in the lives of many people wherever they were for the glory of God. Charles moved to Odessa in 1976 from Canada, he was a minister at Parkview Church of Christ for more than 25 years. Charles had attended Eisenhower Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Helen Jones on October 10, 2016; three brothers, Irue, Vernon, and James Jones, two sisters, Alma Lou Novak and Mirthey Forster.

Charles is survived by a daughter, Becky Jones of Odessa, Texas; two sons, David and wife Karen Jones of Wichita Falls, Texas, Mike and wife Priscilla Jones of Phoenix, Arizona; two sisters, Shirley and husband Wayne Gregory of Whiteville, Tennessee, Pat Godwin of Collierville, Tennessee; two sisters-in-law, Jean Jones and Dolores Jones; three grandchildren, Abby Jones, Tyler Jones, and Malindi and husband Jared Phillips; and one great grandchild, Parker Lee Phillips.
