Obituary for Roberta Clemmer
Roberta L. Nichols Clemmer. 93, of Andrews passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 in Andrews.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life at 2:00 pm Thursday, February 2, 2017 at McNett Funeral Home Chapel in Andrews with Dr. Donnie R. Rollie, Home Hospice Chaplain in Odessa, and Nephew Heath Wilson of Quanah, officiating. Interment will follow in the Andrews North Cemetery. Roberta was born on August 19, 1923 in Lubbock, Texas to Robert Hamer Hurst and Lois Ethel Thaxton Hurst. She was raised and attended schools in Lubbock and was a graduate of the Southwest CUNA School for Credit Union at the University of Houston. She married Melvin Martin Nichols on May 20, 1945 in Pampa, Texas. They lived in Eunice, New Mexico before moving to Andrews in 1963. Roberta worked in the finance industry for 33 years holding positions from clerk, assistant vice-president, and president and had attended and trained for many seminars. She had been employed by T-NM PL Credit Union, Amoco Credit Union, Andrews Savings and Loan, and Andrews Federal Credit Union. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the American Legion Auxiliary in Eunice and Jal, New Mexico, Andrews Senior Citizens, Exxon Mobil Annuitant Club, and the Andrews Presbyterian Church. Her husband, Melvin, preceded her in death on October 20, 1993. She married John D. Clemmer on November 4, 2000 in Andrews, and he preceded her in death on March 25, 2010. She was also preceded in death by her parents, sister, Mary Rosa Hurst, and nephew, Ray Stearns.
She is survived by her dear friends, Letty Coomer and husband, Rodney, of Andrews, sister, Theta Stearns of Tatum, NM, niece, Beneta Haley and husband, Gary, of Cypress, TX, nephew, John Bob Stearns and wife, Lou Ann, of Crossroads, NM, nephew, Larry Nichols and wife, Cathy, of Wichita, KS, god-son, Bill Gulley and wife, Carol, of Kilgore, and several nieces and nephews.
