After graduation, she went to business school in Abilene and became a secretary at the airbase in Carlsbad, NM, where she met the love of her life. Because of WWII, she had to get special permission to quit her job, so she could marry him. She married J.G. Burnett on March 29, 1944 in Carlsbad. She worked as a seamstress, a baker, a homemaker, a gardener, and a farmer’s wife. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, sewing, baking, going on family campouts, and working her word finds. She loved time with family, and adored playing with her four-legged companion, Macie. She was preceded in death by her husband, J.G. on November 16, 2005, her parents, 1 brother, 1 sister, 1 son in law, 1 granddaughter, and 1 great grandson.
